1981 Royal Wedding - Charles and Diana
29th July 1981: Charles and Diana marry
Crowds of 600,000 people filled the streets of London to catch a glimpse of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer on their wedding day.
The couple were married at St Paul's Cathedral before an invited congregation of 3,500 and an estimated global TV audience of 750 million - making it the most popular programme ever broadcast.

Britons enjoyed a national holiday to mark the occasion.

Lady Diana, 20, arrived almost on time for the 1120 BST ceremony after making the journey from Clarence House in the Glass Coach with her father, Earl Spencer.

The origins of Ind Coope go back to 1709 when brewing started behind The Star Inn in Romford. In 1799 this pub was taken over by Edward Ind and a larger brewery built. C.E.Coope joined the firm in 1845 and in 1856 a much large brewery was opened in Burton-upon-Trent. The firm was renamed Ind Coope in 1886. In 1934 it merged with Samuel Allsopp. It merged once more with Ansells and Tetley Walker in 1961 to form Allied. The beer is now produced by Carlsberg-Tetley at their Leeds plant.

Founded in nearby Lorton in 1828 they moved to their current picturesque location in 1874. The brewery used water from it's own well. Taken over by Wolverhampton and Dudley during the early part of 2005.

Brewing started on this site in 1757 and was acquired by John Smith in 1847. A new brewery was built in 1883/4 with the old brewery being sold to a nephew who set up Samuel Smith. It was acquired by Courage in 1970. It still brews today now under the ownership of Scottish Courage where it is the main cask ale brewery for the group.
