Founded in 1847 although brewing had been taking place at what is now the brewery tap, The Ship & Bell, for some time before that. A larger brewery was built behind the pub by 1869. In 1896 the brewery was sold but is still owned by the family that brought the brewery. Taken over by Fullers in November 2005, the brewery closed at the end of March 2006 with all production being transferred to Fullers.

Now the largest independent cask brewer in the UK, this brewery started with the merger of E Greene & Sons and F W King & Sons in 1887. The new merged brewery was based at the Greene site where brewing had been going on since 1806. Over the years a number of breweries have been taken over. Recently Morland and Ruddles beers have been acquired and are brewed here along side the Greene King range. In July 2005 they took over Ridleys and Belhaven later in the same year. Took over Hardy & Hanson's in September 2006.

Formed as Hanby Ales at the end of 1988 following the decision of Greenalls to close their Wem Brewery. Brewing started in March 1989 and expansion lead to a move to the current location less that a year later. The 12 barrel plant was expanded to 20 barrels in 2000. They were taken over towards the end of 2008, which resulted in a change of name to the current name. However they ceased trading in 2010

Brewing commenced in May 1987 using a 5 barrel brewplant located at the Wyndham Arms, Estcourt Road, Salisbury. Following much success it moved to it's current location in May 1992, but continued to also brew at the original location. The adjoining industrial units have been acquired over the years as further expansion required. Brewing ceased at the Wyndham Arms in 1995 with the plant moved to the Reading Lion.
