Founded by a member of the Theakston family following the takeover of Theakstons by Scottish & Newcastle, this brewery opened in September 1992. It is located in the old maltings of Lightfoots brewery. Much of the plant came from Hartley's in Ulverston and has been expanded on a number of occasions to keep up with demand.

Believed to be the oldest brewhouse in Britain it is known that this building use operational as a monk's resthouse in the early 15th century. It became an inn in the 18th century. A four barrel brewplant is situated at the rear of the pub.

Brewing started in July 2008. The 4 BBL plant was expanded from the plant previously at Bury Street Brewery and is located in a nearby industrial unit.

Started in 1997 as a partnership between the Bramcote Brewing Company and the Tynemill pub group. Several expansions of the brewery took place over the following years. In 2001 Tynemill bought out their partners to become the sole owners of the brewery, the partners leaving to set up Nottingham Brewing Co. An expansion of the brewery was completed in spring 2003.

Started brewing in 1980, initially using a 5 barrel brewplant. This has been expanded to a 15 barrel plant over the years. A feature of the brewery is the large number of beer related food items that are available, such as beer mustard and cheese.
